Ghana's football authorities have hit the AWOL trio in the pocket...
The trio have been ordered to pay up within seven days after the GFA decision. A statement from the Secretary General of the GFA Kofi Nsiah said the football authority had agreed on a reduced figure because the players have shown regret.
"The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce that, after giving hearing to Black Stars players Messrs Sulley Muntari, Michael Essien and Asamoah Gyan, it became evident that the players have shown remorse for their actions.”
The European-based players have also been ordered to apologise to the technical team and players of the Black Stars.
The players abandoned the team and returned to their various clubs just after their last qualifying match against Mali four weeks ago. They had all been due to report for action in the following friendly against the 2010 Africa Nations Cup host.
