Kenya’s Harambee Stars Face Uganda Cranes In Cecafa Quarters Today
African Cup of Nations-bound Zambia will also play Zanzibar in the earlier quarter-final kick off at Nyayo National Stadium.
The two met in last year’s final in Uganda, which the Cranes won 1-0. On paper, Uganda are the stronger side having brushed aside Tanzania and Burundi with identical 2-0 wins and drew 0-0 with Zanzibar.
In contrast Harambee Stars, though a work in progress, have not been convincing except against Ethiopia who they beat 2-0 on route to the last eight. Earlier they'd lost 2-0 to Zambia before recovering to beat minnows Djibouti by the same margin.
"We are getting better. After the defeat against Zambia, I told the boys it should awaken us. I think the loss has had a positive effect on us and we will go on to play well," Muhiddin told The Standard yesterday.
In the day's first match guest team Zambia, who sailed to the quarters after winning all their qualifying matches, will play Zanzibar.
