Nations Cup Will Be Tough For Nigeria Says Bolton’s Danny Shittu
Defender says Nigeria have their job cut out for them.
Bolton Wanderers defender Danny Shittu
has said that his country will be facing an uphill task as Nigeria look
to win a third African Nations Cup title in January.
"The Nations Cup will not be easy for Nigeria; we need to really work hard to go through the rounds. We need prayers to survive in Group C because it is going to be (a) real war," Shittu told The Sun.
"In Africa, Nigeria (are) rated among the top teams, and we have to live up to that billing in Angola."
“The Nations Cup would be a great opportunity for us to redeem our image. We need to surpass the record of the last edition in Ghana. We need to prove that we are back and better.”
Nigeria are drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Egypt, Mozambique and Benin. They will play their matches in Benguela.
