On Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu Rangers forced high-riding Warri Wolves to a 1-1 draw in continuation of the Nigeria Premier League.
The Wolves opened scoring in the 43rd minute through Michael Okoyo before the home team drew level in the 55th minute courtesy of a penalty goal by experienced midfielder Damien Udeh.
Warri Wolves, who placed fourth in their first season back at the top flight last term, are now second in the standings with 14 points from eight matches, a point behind new leaders Kwara United, who outscored Lobi Stars 2-0 on Saturday.
Rangers are ninth on the table with 11 points.
In Ibadan, Shooting Stars outplayed visiting Ocean Boys coached by former international Emmanuel Amuneke and had several chances to win this game, which eventually ended in a 0-0 draw.
Akeem Adebisi's goal off a header was disallowed by the referee as a result of an infringement, while Ado Mohammed again had the chance to give Shooting Stars all three points but his 87th minute penalty kick was saved by former youth international goalkeeper Femi Thomas.
Ocean Boys are now seventh in the standings, while Shooting are nine spots below.
Nine-man Wikki Tourist got a result at Heartland of Owerri when they drew 0-0.
"It was a good result for us particularly away to one of the top teams in the league. It really shows that the officiating in the league has really improved," said a delighted Wikki chairman, Patrick Pascal.
Wikki are 12th on the table with nine points after eight matches.
In other matches, Zamfara United drew 1-1 with Kaduna United, while champions Bayelsa United defeated Gateway FC 2-1.
