Tunisia Coach: Lotfi Rhim Will Not Be My Assistant
Faouzi Benzarti says he respects his colleague but won’t pick him for non-football related reasons...
Tunisian national team coach Faouzi Benzarti has told
Mosaique FM that, although he think Lotfi Rhim is a capable trainer, he will not
be selecting him to be his assistant, as had been rumoured in the North African
country’s press.
“I’m going to think about the name of my future assistant in the national team in the coming days, but contrary to what some newspapers have been printing, it won’t be Lotfi Rhim,” he said.
“He is a good coach and I respect him but we’re both from Monastir and I don’t like the interpretations that such a decision would provoke.”
Rhim had a fantastic season with Union Sportive Monastirienne last year in the domestic league and even knocked out Benzarti’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis side in the semi-finals of the Tunisian Cup.
The newly appointed Carthage Eagles manager did not specify who the other possibilities were, but that hasn’t prevented Tunisians from speculating on who he will pick.
Some sources claim former Esperance player Khaled Ben Yahia is close to the job, while others have mentioned retired Etoile Sportive du Sahel star Zoubayer Beya.
