Report: Eric Gerets Tops Morocco’s List Of Possible Head Coaches
The wily Belgian could be installed as early as next week. Last season Gerets enjoyed success as Olympique de Marseille boss...
According to lionsdelatlas.net, the Moroccan Royal Football
Federation is seriously considering replacing caretaker national team coach Hassan
Moumen with current Al Hilal trainer Eric Gerets.
The Belgian is reportedly not interested in extending his contract with his current Saudi Arabian club and has already admitted to having received an offer from a North African country, without specifying which one.
Other coaches who are rumoured to be possibilities are Luis Fernandez, Jose Romao and Hassan Harmatallah. However, if sources close to the FA are to be believed, Gerets could be named as early as next week.
It is likely that the next trainer of the Atlas Lions will be asked to appoint a local trainer as his assistant, and Harmatallah might be a viable solution because of his expertise and history.
However, it is not clear whether he would be interested in such a post. He has already stated his preference for the head coaching position.
