Algeria Coach Rabah Saadane Optimistic About African Cup Of Nations
Saadane believes that his team landed on their feet in a relatively simple group. It's not all good news for the coach, though...
After learning that Algeria had been draw in Group A of
the African Cup of Nations alongside Angola, Mali and Malawi, Fennecs coach Rabah Saadane told dzfoot.net that he feels his side are in a good
position.
“I am satisfied with the draw," he indicated. "It’s a good group compared to Cote d’Ivoire’s or Cameroon’s, which are both very difficult. Thank God, I think we have a very good chance to advance to the quarter-finals.”
Meanwhile, the trainer also stated that his team will use the tournament as an opportunity to prepare for the 2010 World Cup. However, he stressed that it will not be a simple affair, especially considering he won’t have all his players for as long as he’d like in the lead up to the continental tournament.
“We won’t have much time to prepare for this African Cup of Nations since the majority of the European championships will only observe their winter break on December 21. That’s only two weeks before the tournament,” he noted.
“The players will benefit from one week of rest before the serious business gets underway at the beginning of the month of January.”
