Zimbabwe Confirm Participation In Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup
The Cosafa champions will be participating as guest team alongside Zambia in the tournament that starts next weekend.
Zimbabwe has confirmed their
participation in the forth- coming Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup to take
place November 28 to December 13 in Kenya.
Nicholas Musonye, the secretary general of the Council for East and Central African Football (Cecafa) was quoted in the Daily Monitor as saying that Zimbabwe is the latest country to confirm participation.
"With the Warriors of Zimbabwe and Zambia's Chipolopolo in the tournament, we are going to have a very tough competition," said Musonye.
Zimbabwe beat Zambia 3-1 last month to win the Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup, while the second guest side Zambia has qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations 2010 in Angola after earning a 0-0 draw against Rwanda on Saturday.
Musonye said with the coming on board of Orange Telecom as title sponsors and the support of the government of Kenya, the championship will take off without hitches.
"We are basically ready to have a successful two-week tournament that will have two groups play in the capital Nairobi, while one group will be based in Mumias," he said.
