According to Infosfoot.net, former US Monastir coach Lotfi Rhim quit from his head coaching job at Etoile Sportive du Sahel today.

The resignation comes only a day after he saw his team suffer a 2-0 away loss to Club Sportif Sfaxien in Tunisian league play.

Apparently the President of the club, Moez Driss, attempted to persuade Rhim to stay the course but the manager could not be dissuaded from his choice to sever his contract prematurely.

Nevertheless, the deteriorating results at Etoile have been such that a backup plan was always in the works and Khaled Ben Sassi has already been named as a replacement.

Speaking to Mosaique FM after the news was made public, the former AS Kasserine coach expressed his happiness at being given the opportunity of coaching the club he played for in the past.

“I am very touched by this. It’s been a long time that I’ve been awaiting this chance. Everyone wishes to manage a side with the history of Etoile. I’ve managed quite a number of teams in Tunisia but this time these are the colors of my second family,” he explained.

Ben Sassi went on to say that he would do everything within his capabilities to put the side on the right track. At the top of his list of action items is to ascertain why some players are not showing their true level and how he can create a playing style for a team that has lost its trademark attacking flair.
