South African Referees For Top Matches
Jerome Damon has been appointed to handle the African Champions League final while Daniel Bennett is to officiate a key World Cup qualifier next month.
Damon will handle the first leg of the final between Heartland FC and
TP Mazembe Englebert in Owerri, Nigeria on October 31.
It rules out the possibility that he will take charge of the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at the Orlando Stadium.
Damon will be assisted by Enoch Molefe and the Cameroonian linesman Evariste Mekouande.
Abdul Ebrahim will be the fourth official. Bennett will handled the qualifier in Casablanca between Morocco and Cameroon in Africa’s Group One on November 14.
An away win for Cameroon will be enough to put them into the 2010 finals in South Africa.
Deidre Mitchell is to referee a African Women’s Youth championship qualifying tie between Madagascar and Reunion on Friday in Antananarivo.
She will be assisted by Nomvula Masilela, who was on PSL duty in midweek, and Peggy Manca.
