Former Bolton Wanderers midfielder, Austin 'Jay Jay' Okocha, is reported to be in talks with Nigeria Premier League club Gateway of Abeokuta over a possible comeback to football.

Top Ogun State sports official, Bukola Olapade, told Complete Sports newspaper on Monday, "We are actually discussing with Jay Jay and we look forward to having him in our club. He has done so well for the game and coming back to play in the local league will give it an additional lift."

Gateway are the new leaders of the Nigeria Premier League after this last weekend's home win over Gombe United.

Former Nigeria skipper Okocha, 36, played for Enugu Rangers for a season before he left to begin his career in Europe.

He quit football two seasons ago, saying that was the best decision he ever took.

However, recently there have been desires voiced for the former Paris Saint-Germain star to return to international football with the Super Eagles.

This season another former international, Garba Lawal, 35, staged a return to the league with another Premier League outfit, Lobi Stars, after over a decade playing abroad.
