Etoile Defender Aymen Abdennour Questionable For Esperance Clash
The Tunisian left-back suffered a gash on his eyebrow that required seven stitches to close and may not be able to play against the defending champions this weekend.
Tunisian international defender Aymen Abdennour is an injury
doubt for his club, Etoile Sportive du Sahel, for this weekend’s league classic against the Sousse based side and defending champions Esperance Sportive de
Tunis.
The player sustained a deep cut above one of his eyebrows through an accidental clash with Bassam Boulaabi yesterday but is still hoping to play so long as his team doctors allow it.
“My injury isn’t very serious. It was an involuntary knock from my team-mates, Bassam Boulaabi, during the run of play in training. I got seven stitches and I’m waiting for the green light from the medical staff to play this important match,” he explained while speaking to infosfoot.net.
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old left back also mentioned that after being knocked out of the CAF Champions league, Etoile must win their next encounter versus their fierce rivals in order to please their fans.
“In any case, this match is crucial for us. We only have one alternative and that is to win so that we can reconcile ourselves with our supporters,” he added.
If the medical staff judges that Abdennour is not ready to partake in the game it is almost certain that they will rely on former US Monastir player Aymen Ayari to deputise at left-back.
