Angola and Cape Verde canceled each other out today at the Algrave Stadium in Lisbon, Portugal in a match where both goals were scored on penalty kicks. Al Ahly’s Gilberto got the South Central Africans off the mark in the 23rd minute of the match but Cape Verde’s Dario replied only 12 minutes later.
The result is not a reassuring one for recently appointed Angolan national team coach Jose Manuel who’s side were coming off a lucky 1-1 draw versus Senegal during which they were “embarrassed” according to the Portuguese trainer comments to Jornal de Angola.
This is the second time in a row that Cape Verde have avoided defeat when facing Angola who are preparing to host the 2010 African Cup of Nations. In their last meeting, the Island country beat their rivals 1-0.
