Nigeria Coach To Decide On Danny Shittu & John Utaka On Monday
Coach Shuaibu Amodu has announced he will decide next week on whether to pick the England-based stars for a crunch World Cup clash against Tunisia.
Both Bolton defender Danny Shittu and Portsmouth forward John Utaka will know next week whether they will be part of Nigeria's squad for an all-important September 6 World Cup qualifier against Tunisia in Abuja.
Nigeria coach, Shuaibu Amodu, told reporters in Abuja Friday afternoon that he has to pick two more players to join his 21-man squad for the qualifier against the North Africans.
Amodu said he will decide between Shittu and Switzerland-based defender Obinna Nwaneri as well as between Club Brugge striker Joseph Akpala and Utaka by Monday.
The Super Eagles are expected to open training camp for this make-or-mar match on August 31 in Abuja.
Amodu expressed confidence he has a team to beat Tunisia and shoot the Eagles to the top of Group Two for the first time.
"I met with most of the players in Europe. They are very determined to beat Tuniisa in Abuja and brighten our World Cup hopes," Amodu declared.
"We do not expect an easy game against the Tunisians, who will pack both the midfield and defence in order to frustrate us, but we have the solutions to all their antics."
