Matmour: Competition In Algerian Team Is Welcome

The striker is not at all concerned by the addition of new players to the Greens.

Karim Matmour has told Le Buteur that although him and his Algeria team-mates have formed a strong bond, new players will always be welcome in the squad if they are of a quality that can help them reach their goals.

The player was referring to the arrival of Lazio’s Mourad Meghni, who played his first game in Algerian colors last week in their 1-0 friendly win over Uruguay, and the potential recruitment of Hassan Yebda, who has also indicated he would like to represent the North African nation.

“Competition in a team is a sign of the richness of the squad. The more good players we have, the better things will go for the national team. Nobody should fear competition if they really love Algeria. The national team needs all its good players to win its matches and to go far like we all wish,” he explained.

“Personally I think about working to improve and putting myself at the national team’s disposal in my best shape. I know I can bring a lot to this team and every player is conscious of their value.”
