According to the club's website, Nimes has officially signed three new players in the past few hours. First to sign was Haidar Al-Shibaini, a 25-year-old Canadian goalkeeper. He was followed by Vladimir Buac, a 24-year-old Serbian striker and then, perhaps most importantly, Sadio Sow, the 33-year-old Senegalese left-winger.
In open defiance against the wishes of his old club Kawkab Marrakech of Morrocco, Sow has signed with Nimes where he will once again join Jean-Michel Cavalli, a coach he has worked with previously while at Ajaccio, Creteil and Wydad Casablanca. The French FA is expected to allow Sow and his new teammates to play for the Crocodiles this Friday in their first match against Tours FC.
In similar news, Omar Daf, the 32-year-old former Senegal captain, signed with Brest after finishing his twelfth season at Sochaux and not being handed a contract renewal. He has been signed to a one-year contract according to the club's website. This new challenge should prove interesting for the veteran, who has been plagued by injuries over the last two seasons and only played 23 games since 2006.
