Nacer Chadli: I Want To Represent Morocco
The AGOVV midfielder says that he’d like to play for the Atlas Lions and not for his native Belgium.
In an interview granted to
Mountakhab.net, AGOVV Apeldoorn youngster Nacer Chadli has admitted
that he is “100 per cent for Morocco” and would like to play for
the North African country in the future.
“I hope to play for Morocco because that’s my origin. The Belgian Federation contacted me when I was younger but since I haven’t heard anything from them,” he explained.
The 19-year-old also mentioned that he follows the Atlas Lions’ results closely but that he has not able to watch their matches. Nevertheless, it didn’t stop him from reflecting on the problems of Roger Lemerre’s former side.
“I think it’s a great squad with lots of quality but sometimes that isn’t enough. You have to have a solid group at your disposal and that’s oftentimes what Morocco is missing,” he added.
Meanwhile, Chadli also indicated that he left Standard Liege in Belgium for his current Dutch squad because he found the Eredivisie to be a more technical championship that allows young players to play significant minutes and develop their skills.
