Badou Zaki Extends Contract With Wydad Athletic Club
The former Morocco goalkeeper’s one-year extension with the Casablanca side makes him unlikely to take the reins of the Atlas Lions.
According to Wydadnews.com, Badou Zaki has extended his
contract with Wydad Athletic Club by one more year. The new deal has seen his
salary augmented, and better performance bonuses have been written into the agreement as well.
The news lessens the likelihood of the former Moroccan national team coach reclaiming the helm from the under-fire Roger Lemerre. Negotiations in that affair are reportedly ongoing, with the Frenchman still holding firm to a €2 million buyout clause.
During the past season, Zaki guided WAC to the final of the Arab Champions League, where they fell to Esperance in Tunis. The side finished fourth in the North African country’s Botola League - an improvement over the preceding year, when they finished seventh.
