Libya: Al-Ittihad Successfully Defend League Crown

Al-Ittihad are crowned Libyan champions for the second successive season...

Despite playing out a goalless draw with Al-Akhdar on the last day of the national first division championship in Libya at the weekend, Al-Ittihad have successfully defended their league title.

Al-Ittihad, who bagged 71 points at the end of the season, had wrapped up the championship even before the last day.

Al-Ahli of Benghazi were placed second with 67 points, while Al-Ahli Tripoli were third with 66 points.

Al-Jazira, Al-Wihda, Sûreté Publique and Wifak Sabratha were all relegated to the second division.

The final standings are as follows:
