Rwanda Sting African All-Stars
The Amavubi Stars claimed a comprehensive victory in a charity game dedicated to genocide survivors...
The charity game, played on Monday evening at Amahoro Stadium, was in support of the 'One Dollar Campaign', a project aimed at improving the living conditions and social welfare of the survivors of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi people.
Albert Ngabo, Abdul Uwimana and Yussuf Ndayishimiye completed the 4-0 rout before an enthusiastic home crowd that included Rwanda president Paul Kagame, who made the event possible.
Other players on the All-Star team included Rigobert Song (skipper), Didier Drogba, Alexandre Song, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Dominique Wazal (USA) and Geremi Njitap.
It was a test of character, fitness and perseverance for the Stars, who walked onto the field just two hours after their long flight from Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
While other stars remained in the country for more charity commitments, Eto'o, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City and other European clubs, flew back to sort out his future with European champions Barcelona.
The 'One Dollar Campaign' is a project that was developed by the Rwandan Diaspora community.
