Ghana could well be without Stade Rennais forward Asamoah Gyan for their World Cup qualifiers against Mali and Sudan after he limped out of his weekend game as a result of a thigh injury.
Gyan, who was just getting over another injury when he played for the Black Stars in a home win over Benin in March, was replaced in the first half after sustaining a problem with his right thigh in the match against Lorient on Saturday.
The extent of Gyan’s fifth injury of the season will only be known later this week.
Should this latest injury setback rule him out of the World Cup tie away to Mali on June 7, Ghana will likely recall former Zamalek striker Junior Agogo, who was overlooked for the match against Benin two months ago so he could resolve his problems with his Egyptian club.
Agogo has been training with English outfit Leyton Orient since his sensational departure from Zamalek.
