Moroccan international defender Abdeslam Ouaddou has spoken to mountakhab.net about his profound dismay over not being among Roger Lemerre’s call-ups to the national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers versus Cameroon and Togo.

“Of course I’m disappointed,” he explained in the interview. “I prepared myself for this encounter. I asked my coach and Nancy’s medical staff to excuse me from playing two matches since I had to receive a cortisone shot which necessitates ten days of rest

“I had already asked for that in order to be operational for the Cameroon encounter. It’s a crucial match for Morocco and for me and I was looking forward to being there.”

Ouaddou did not comment on the reason behind the decision but it is understood that his critique of his coach’s team selection policies and his team-mates' performances were not appreciated.

Nevertheless, the centre-back did take the opportunity to wish his team-mates good luck. He indicated that he would be in the stands supporting them when they take on Togo in Rabat on June 20.
