Tunisia Coach Humberto Coelho Hints At Possible Yassine Chikhaoui Call-Up
Humberto Coelho has expressed his admiration for the Zurich playmaker and indicated that he is tracking his progress as the midfielder returns from a long inactive spell.
During his press conference in which he announced the names of players he was calling up for Tunisia’s friendly encounter versus Sudan, Tunisian national team coach Humberto Coelho also took the opportunity to reassure supporters and journalists alike that he is well aware of Zurich’s talented Yassine Chikhaoui.
“I’m following Chikhaoui,” explained the Portuguese trainer in an interview with Mosaique FM. “Lately he played a good half an hour during which he showed his capacity to go through the opposing defence. His qualities are enormous and he is a fine player but he’s not back to his physical best yet.”
The former Etoile du Sahel star was not included in the squad for the Carthage Eagles’ upcoming international friendly but the fact that he is being tracked by the Tunisian technical staff is a good sign for those who believe him to be the team’s best player.
Meanwhile, Coelho also took the opportunity to admit that he was ready to bury the hatchet with Nice’s Chaouki Ben Saada and recall him into the national team for the North African country’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
However, he did not respond favourably to the notion of doing the same with Alaeddine Yahia. The Lens defender asked not to be considered for roster spot during his outburst following Tunisia’s 3-1 loss to France in mid-October 2008.
