Tunisia Relying On Local Players Versus Sudan

Humberto Coelho has called up an experimental squad for Tunisia's friendly fixture versus Sudan as the majority of the North African country's European based players have commitments with their clubs.

Tunisian national team coach Humberto Coelho held a press conference at the FA’s headquarters today to announce the players he is calling up for the Carthage Eagles’ friendly versus Sudan, which is scheduled for later this month.

The squad is somewhat of an experimental one given that it is largely composed of local players. The reason for this is that the majority of the country’s European based footballers have important commitments with their club teams during the closing stages of their respective leagues.

The circumstances have allowed Coelho to offer first time calls to a variety of players who have yet to get a chance to don their national team colours. Meanwhile, the kick-off time has been pushed back by 24 hours because the original date (May 27) conflicted with the final of the European Champions League.

Furthermore, the coach has decided not to rely on any players from Club Sportif Sfaxien as they will be playing an important CAF Confederation Cup fixture on May 30 against Primero de Agusto of Angola.

Tunisia squad to face Sudan in full:

Goalkeepers: Hamdi Kasraoui (Esperance), Aymen Mathlouthi (Etoile)

Defenders: Billel Iffa (Club Africain), Aymen Abdennour (Etoile), Khalil Chammam (Esperance), Khaled Souissi (Club Africain), Radhouane Felhi (Etoile), Radhi Jaidi (Birmingham City), Ammar Jemal (Etoile)
