More Cash For CAF Confederation Cup Clubs
Clubs who reach the group phase of the tournament will earn more money this year...
Clubs that make it to the last eight of the CAF Confederation Cup are guaranteed more prize money, and their respective national associations will also be smiling all the way to the bank.
The overall winner of the tournament will earn US $625,000, with their federation getting $35,000.
Winners of the more glamorous CAF Champions League pocket $1 million and their federation gets $50,000.
The runners-up will bag $432,000 and their federation $30,000.
The second- and third-placed teams in each group will earn $239,000 apiece, with their respective federations getting $25,000 and 20,000.
The fourth teams in each of the two groups will earn $150,000, with their federations collecting $15,000.
Like the showpiece Champions League, the eight clubs in the quarter-finals will be split into two groups of four each for the mini-league phase.
CS Sfaxien of Tunisia are the current holders of the Confederation Cup after they beat their fellow countrymen, Etoile du Sahel, last year.
