Nancy’s Moroccan Pair Suffer Injuries

Both Youssef Hadji and Michael Chretien Basser had to leave Nancy’s latest French Ligue 1 match early through injuries.

Nancy team-mates Youssef Hadji and Michael Chretien Basser both had to be substituted out of their team’s highly important 2-1 win over Caen after each suffered an injury while playing.

Hadji, who scored his 10th goal of the French Ligue 1 season in the first minute of play, was the first to come off in the 51st minute, citing pains in his adductor muscle. He was replaced by fellow Moroccan international striker, Moncef Zerka.

Meanwhile, Basser came off in the 79th minute after suffering a knock on his left thigh. His injury is feared to be potentially season-ending as it could take four to six weeks for him to return to full fitness.

The news will trouble their national team coach, Roger Lemerre, who would like to have all of his players at his disposal when he picks the team that will travel to Yaounde to face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a must-win World Cup qualifying encounter on 6 June.

While Hadji took part in Morocco’s last two international outings, Basser missed out due to adductor problems of his own that he contracted in his country’s goalless draw versus the Czech Republic on February 11th.
