Moroccan international Adil Hermach believes that over-confidence played a role in his national side’s surprising 2-1 home loss to the visiting 'Panthers' from Gabon.
The player, who has a contract with Lens until 2012, has said that he believes his side can still qualify but that they must remain humble and respect all their adversaries from now on.
“As far as the match goes, we certainly lacked respect and humility vis a vis our adversaries," he admitted.
"In such a game, any team can beat the other and we saw this against the excellent Gabonese. There’s really no other explanation, aside from the fact that we were a little too impressed with ourselves,” said Hermach in an interview with liondeatlas.net.
The player also took the opportunity to deny rumors, circulating in the Moroccan press, pointing to a generational clash between the veterans and the younger players in the Atlas Lions setup, although he did admit that there were some disagreements between certain players like there are in any club side.
