Cameroon Drop Achille Emana For World Cup Tie

Although three uncapped players have been called to the Cameroon squad, the major talking point is the omission of the Betis star.

Achille Emana - Cameroon
Cameroon have omitted on-form Real Betis midfielder Achille Emana from their squad to play a World Cup qualifier against Togo on March 28 in Accra.

Emana is the notable exclusion from the 23-man squad, but Arsenal ace Alexandre Song was not picked as he is serving a three-match ban after an incident in a World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in September.

Cameroon coach Otto Pfister has also called up three uncapped players: Lille defender Aurelien Chedjou; Angers striker Paul Alo'o Efoulou; and youth international goalkeeper Joslain Mayebi.

Chedjou, 23, has been in great form this season and he has started 11 matches for French top division club Lille. Meanwhile, 25-year-old Efoulou has netted 10 goals in 25 appearances for his club in Ligue 2, France’s second flight. Mayebi is based in Israel.

The game will be played in Ghana as the Lome Stadium is still under sanction after crowd trouble there.

The Indomitable Lions will open their training camp in Accra on March 23.
