Gor Mahia will be the team to reckon with in the forthcoming season in Kenya after they despatched champions Mathare United 3-0 in the maiden Super Cup on Saturday.
Cup holders Gor Mahia were in a different class as they led 2-0 in the first half before they wrapped up the game in the second period with another goal.
This match-up thus ushered in the new Kenyan season, which kicks off on February 7.
The encounter also served as a good warm-up for both teams ahead of their international engagements next weekend.
Gor Mahia will host APR of Rwanda on Sunday in the first leg of the Confederations Cup on February 1 at the Nyayo Stadium while Mathare will be in Zambia to face Zesco United in the first leg of the African Champions League.
