Egypt Achieve Best-Ever Fifa Ranking
African champions Egypt have recorded their best-ever Fifa ranking after they were named as the 15th top team in the world in the latest monthly ratings by world soccer's governing body.
The Pharaohs of Egypt have moved a spot better than their previous highest Fifa placing of 16th position in the December rankings.
The other major movers in the rankings are Nigeria, who are 17th best team in the world according to the January ratings, two places better than last month.
Cameroon remain the top African team in the monthly ratings as the 14th in the world.
The biggest African movers for January are Somalia, who moved up 22 places and are now 178th ranked team in the world. Gambia also moved 13 places higher and are now 75th ranked team on the globe.
European champions Spain retain top spot, while Germany are ranked second, and the Netherlands are placed third.
