CAF Awards Moved To Nigeria
The CAF awards are no longer taking place in Senegal do to 'logistics' issues...
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards ceremony, which was scheduled for Senegal, will now be staged in Nigeria on February 10, according to officials.
"The venue and date for the awards ceremony have been changed as a result of logistics," disclosed CAF Director of Communications, Suleimanu Habuba.
"It was earlier billed for January 23 in Dakar, Senegal, but will now hold in Lagos on February 10."
Habuba also said the CAF General Assembly will take place in Lagos between February 10 and 11.
Furthermore, the final three nominees for the prestigious CAF Player of the Year are expected to be announced this week.
Egyptians Mohamed Aboutrika and Amr Zaki as well as Togo's Emmanuel Adebayor are among the five players nominated for the annual individual accolade.
The other nominees are Ghana's Michael essien and Didier Drogba of the Ivory Coast.
Mali's Frederic Kanoute won the 2007 African Player Award under controversial circumstances. Winner Drogba was reportedly stripped of the honour having failed to turn up for the ceremony in Lome, Togo, in the middle of the Africa Cup of Nations, which was taking place in neighbouring Ghana.
