The former Liverpool and Olympique Marseille star has inherited a club who were relegated to the lower division following a dispute with the country's football federation.
ASK, who have won Guinea's league championship 11 times, were demoted to the second division last season after the old management of the Conakry club turned down equipment from a federation sponsor.
"As a former supporter and player of this club, it was only logical that I get involved in trying to save this club," said Camara, who in 2007 unsuccessfully contested for the presidency of the Guinea Football Federation (FGF).
"I want to give back to the younger generation what football has given me."
New financiers have injected some money into the club, who have suffered an exodus of players. Camara also plans to use his old contacts to improve the finances of AS Kaloum ahead of the competition, which will determine the teams to be promoted to the elite division. The games begin on December 7.
