Karembeu said the club’s recent Cameroonian Cup triumph ought to further galvanise them to victory in the clash against Ahly.
“If you want to be champions, you must ignore anything that will affect your concentration,” said Karembeu.
Defender Sebastian Ndzana Kana said the visit of the 1998 World Cup ace had boosted the team’s morale.
Another World Cup hero, Roger Milla, led the team to Egypt for the first leg final of Africa’s richest club competition.
The government of Cameroon has equally promised the team a hefty bonus if they win the CAF Champions League.
Karembeu’s visit was also a reunion with his former teammate at French club FC Nantes Alain Ouombleon Guedou, who is now coach of Coton Sport.
The ex-France international was in Cameroon to attend the second international conference on young African players held earlier this week in Yaoundé.
