Yobo: I Am Not Super Eagles Saviour
The Super Eagles' hero in Saturday’s 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone, Joseph Yobo, has played down the impact of his winning goal in ensuring that his side maintain their 100 percent record in the qualifiers, insisting he is not the saviour...

The Eagles struggled against the Leone Stars who dominated for the most part of the encounter, hitting the post on two occasions in the opening half before Yobo netted a last-gasp winner in the final moments of the game from a goalmouth scramble.
It was another smash-and-grab effort from the Everton central defender after scoring in similar fashion on July 3, 2004 to give Nigeria a lone goal victory over the Desert Warriors of Algeria in a Germany 2006 World Cup qualifier in Abuja.
But Yobo, in a chat with a local sports daily in Freetown, insists there is no big deal in his occasional heroic feats, maintaining that everybody in the team had a role to play in ensuring the Eagles remain on course for South Africa 2010 qualification.
“No, I don’t really think it’s a big deal being the goalscorer for us to get the three points against Sierra Leone. It was generally a tough game for us and everyone of us worked really hard to get the win”, said the former Olympique Marseille of France ace.
“Football is a team game and when we win, the whole team shares the joy, same thing happens when it’s the other way round, that’s the game for you.
“Of course, I’m happy to have scored the goal but you have to give credit to everybody in the team because a tree can’t make a forest.
“However, we will continue working together as a team and personally I’ll always give my best to help my country. By the grace of God we will have cause to celebrate like this in our subsequent games”, Yobo said.
