Real Madrid Allow Mahamadou Diarra To Play In African Cup Of Nations With Mali
Real Madrid will allow Mahamadou Diarra to play for Mali at the African Cup of Nations.
Mali coach Stephen Keshi called up the midfielder for the tournament,
which will be played in Angola from January 10-31.
Madrid says Diarra will remain with the Mali team as long as they remain in the competition, at which point he will return to the Spanish giants, according to SuperSport.
Before that, Mali will compete in the Qatar Tournament against Iran, North Korea and Qatar.
Diarra joined Madrid in 2006. However, he has rarely played this season because of the arrivals of Kaka, Xabi Alonso and Esteban Granero, making it difficult for him to find any space in the line-up.
He is likely to be an important part of the puzzle for Mali at the Angolan tournament next month, and the blessing of his club will come as a relief for the player and his national team.
