2010 AFCON Winner Is In Group B – Ghana FA Boss

The winner of the 2010 African Nations Cup would emerge from Group B, predicted the President of the Ghana Football Association Kwasi Nyantakyi...

Ghana - Ivory Coast - Michael Essien
The group that has been christened the Group of Death represents an all West African line up – Ivory Coat, Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso.

“We are going to see the best African football from this group. And I tip the winner of the African Cup to emerge from this group.

“These teams have some of the finest players in Africa who are playing top flight football in Europe. It is made up of teams that are very strong and combative,” Nyantakyi told BBC Radio in Luanda where the draw took place.

“The Black Stars are going to face a very tough and stiff opposition. But I have no doubt what so ever that the Black Stars would make it to the next stage. We have to beat all the top teams and we are ready to conquer all of them,” he added.

"Ivory Coast and Ghana are two of the best teams in Africa. The group is interesting because Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso and Togo are all our neighbours.”

Ghana and Ivory Coast have been tipped as the favourites of the group. They are two of the six African nations playing in the 2010 World Cup. History favours Ghana because the two have met seven times and the Ivorians have won only one of those clashes.
