Future Tunisia Coach Faouzi Benzarti: Group D Is Tough

Tunisia in action
Although he still has not been officially announced as Tunisia’s next head coach by the FA, this did not prevent Faouzi Benzarti from expressing his views on the group in which the Carthage Eagles were drawn for the upcoming African Cup of Nations, which will begin in Angola come January.

“Playing against Cameroon, Gabon and Zambia won’t be simple,” he explained while speaking to infosfoot.net. "Cameroon require no introduction and have a very solid and experimented group. Gabon threatened Cameroon to the very end of World Cup qualifying and beat Morocco twice.

“Meanwhile, Zambia are a respectable team that drew with Egypt in Cairo. Thus it’s going to be difficult but if we go, then it’s to try to honour Tunisian football in the best way possible.”

Benzarti was speaking after his club side, Esperance Sportive de Tunis, convincingly defeated JS Kairouanaise by the score of 4-0 in domestic league play.

An announcement regarding his appointment as head coach of the Tunisian national team is expected on Monday.
