The Super Eagles goalkeeper says the decision by the referee to award a penalty against his side during their draw on Friday was an aberration
Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has attacked the decision by referee Grisha Ghead to award a penalty as the Super Eagles were denied a win in their second Group C game against defending champions Zambiaon Friday.Emmanuel Emenike scored on 55 minutes before the Egyptian referee awarded a penalty to the Chipolopolo which was converted by goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene.
“It was a bizarre call for a penalty. It was one of the worst calls I’ve seen in the history of football,” Enyeama said during a post-match press conference.
“It doesn’t belong to football if we want to develop the football of Africa. We don’t [want to] see such calls for a game of such magnitude – Nigeria, Zambia, defending champions.
“I don’t know what’s really happening about the officiating. I’m really mad about it.
“The last game we got a point-blank penalty but were not given [it]. The call [against Zambia] is one of the worst calls I’ve seen in [my] life.”
Nigeria, who have two points so far in this year's Afcon, will next take on Ethiopia on Tuesday.
