African Nations Cup outsiders Algeria made a weak start to to the tournament with a 3-0 loss against Malawi, but Les Phennecs have since bounced back with wins against Mali and Ivory Coast and have made it into the semi-finals.
Head coach Rabah Saadane received his fair share of criticism after a disappointing group stage, but the Algeria gaffer never doubted his side's abilities and Saadane is not surprised with Algeria's success.
"I had a lot of criticism after losing the opening game, but we are here now and we have qualified for the semi-final," Saadane was quoted as saying at a press conference.
"I wasn't surprised by my team, but more by Ivory Coast's decline. The critics said after we beat Mali 1-0 that we only scored goals from dead ball situations, well here we scored three goals from open play.
"We must now be focused. That's all that matters."
