Cote D’Ivoire National Team To Camp In Tanzania

The Elephants will have a one week training camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations battle.
Cote d'Ivoire national team, The Elephants, will be in Dar es Salaam for a week-long tour from January 2, next year. The tour which follows the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) invitation will form part of Ivory Coast preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals (AFCON) in Angola.

Tanzanian national team, Taifa Stars will play two friendly matches against the West African giants at the ultra modern National Stadium, on January 4 and 7.

Ivory Coast's delegation, led by vice-president of the soccer federation (FIF) Yacine Idriss Diallo arrived in Tanzanian on Sunday to inspect the facilities and discuss with their hosts on the tour.

Upon their arrival, the three-man team which also included Ivory Coast Manager Vahid Halilhodzic and FIF's general secretary Ouattara Hego had an opportunity to study the environment before accepting TFF's invitation.

"We went to the stadium, saw the hotels and we're very impressed with the facilities, that's the reason why we're coming," Diallo was quoted as saying in The Citizen.

"We've a lot of high quality professionals and we've requested first class treatment which indeed TFF has promised to provide".

Vahid Halilhodzic confirmed that stars like Chelsea’s Didier Drogba, Barcelona's Yaya Toure, Salomon Kalou, Aruna Dindane, Kolo Toure as Halilhodzic will feature in the tour.

"We've a lot of good players, we're sure that it will be their last opportunity to win something in Africa. Everybody - the players, the staff want to go and win this African Nations Cup, so they will be here (for the final groundwork) as our mission is to be the champions of Africa," said the French-speaking coach.

The former Bosnian striker said the weather condition in Tanzania is similar to that of Angola hence it would make perfect preparations for his squad. Ivory Coast will face Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso in Group B which will take place between January 10 and 31.

Commenting on the World Cup draw, Halilhodzic said "We've a very tough group, it won't be easy for us, but even if Brazil and Portugal are the favourites, it will be very difficult to them too. Ivory Coast will be well prepared for the tournament."
