Western Sydney Wanderers to call Parramatta Stadium home
Jul 26, 2012 3:58:00 AM
After much speculation, the A-League's newest club have revealed their home base, having taken into account the opinions of their potential fans
Western Sydney have their home, with Parramatta Stadium announced as the new A-League club's ground for its debut campaign. In a press conference on Tuesday, the fledgling outfit revealed they would play all 13 home games of the 2012-13 campaign at Parramatta Stadium, with support for the venue "overwhelming" from fans during forums and surveys conducted in May and June.
"We have maintained from the very beginning that the future direction of our club will wherever possible be built for and by the people of Western Sydney," executive chairman Lyall Gorman said.
"The strong feedback from the in-depth consultation process we have undertaken through our various fan forums and surveys has told us strongly that Parramatta needed to be our home playing venue.
"We have committed to working together in a partnership model with the management at the stadium [Venues NSW] with a view to growing our membership base, crowds and corporate partners in the mutual interest of all parties and we are genuinely excited about the possibilities in that regard."
Having won their first-ever match - a 5-0 result in a friendly clash with Nepean FC - on Wednesday, the Wanderers also unveiled an away strip of white and red horizontal stripes.
Insurance agency NRMA was revealed to be the club's shirt sponsor for the next three seasons.
