Adelaide United shot stopper Eugene Galekovic has been voted A-League Goalkeeper of the Year twice in his career, but the 29-year-old has mainly been warming the bench for Australia's national side. The goalie is now eager to break into the Socceroos' starting XI though.
"I've got to perform now at club level and if I do that, I've got every chance of going to the Asian Cup," Galekovic told The Courier Mail.
"I had a bit of a knee cleanout after the World Cup and next week I'll get back into full training."
Galekovic, who is contracted with Adelaide until 2013, believes he has to make the move to Europe if he stands a chance of moving up the Socceroos’ goalkeeping pecking order.
"I don't know how much interest there is in Europe at the moment. I definitely want to head over to Europe and I want to push as hard as I can. The move overseas could help me get to the next World Cup."
