New A-League franchise the Melbourne Heart have snared Simon Colosimo (Sydney FC), Kristian Sarkies (Adelaide United), Matt Thompson (Newcastle Jets) and Dean Heffernan (Central Coast Mariners) for their inaugural season, according to reports.

The quartet’s names have sprung up in media outlets today, though the Heart management have remained tight-lipped and are yet to confirm any of the signings have been made.

Indeed the strongest link has been that of Colosimo, the in-form Sydney defender who has been the subject of suggestions of a potential Socceroos recall under Pim Verbeek.

“There have been discussions and an offer for Simon has been tabled, but he will not be making any decisions until the end of the year," his agent Leo Karis told the Herald Sun.

It was only recently that Newcastle Jets captain Matt Thompson was being linked with a move away from Energy Australia Stadium, with rivals the Central Coast Mariners having failed in an audacious bid to lure him away from the Hunter region.
