Adelaide United's Mathew Leckie Ruled Out With Hamstring Strain

The impressive youngster has suffered a minor setback.

MRI scans have revealed that Adelaide United midfielder Mathew Leckie has a left hamstring strain, which will rule him out of the Young Socceroos squad for the upcoming AFC U-19 Championship 2010 Qualifiers in Indonesia.

He will also miss the Reds' A-League clash with the Brisbane Roar on Friday night.

The dashing midfielder suffered the injury during last Saturday night’s draw with the Central Coast Mariners in Canberra, with Adelaide United medical staff confirming he does have a strain in the hamstring.

“He has strained his left hamstring. He did it during the game on the weekend, and the MRI scan late yesterday afternoon confirmed a strain,” Adelaide United Doctor James Ilic said.

“It is not a major strain, more mild to moderate, but any strain still needs to be managed properly.”

The setback is untimely for Leckie, who has been making his mark with a string of impressive performances for The Reds, which was likely to see him play an important role in the Young Socceroos’ qualifiers for the AFC U-19 Championship 2010.

However, with a FIFA match day break following this weekend’s A-League round of matches, it gives Leckie added time to recover and attempt to be available for the home match against Gold Coast United on Friday, November 20.
