Harry Kewell (Galatasaray, Turkey)

Came on for the last half-hour of the both the 1-1 Europa League draw with Sturm Graz in midweek and the weekend away trip to Ankaragucu, his side toppled 3-0 in a stunning last ten minutes of the match to leave them four points behind Fenerbahce at the top of the table.

Tim Cahill, Lucas Neill (Everton, England)

Cahill was the saviour in midweek European action, scoring a late winner in his side's 2-1 Europa League win away against BATE Borisov, endearing himself to fans by dedicating the goal to Tsunami victims in the Pacific.

Not the best of afternoons for the midfielder on the weekend though, who should have opened the scoring for his side with a header from six yards out that was saved by Stoke ‘keeper Thomas Sorensen before being beaten in the air by Robert Huth as his side went behind at home. They recovered to record a 1-1 draw however, Neill an unused substitute.

Mark Schwarzer, (Fulham, England)

Beaten by a last-minute deflected shot as his side were held 2-2 away by West Ham but kept a clean sheet in the midweek Europa League win over Basel at Craven Cottage.

Brett Emerton, Vince Grella (Blackburn Rovers, England)

Emerton started and completed 55 minutes of the 6-2 away defeat against Arsenal, seemingly close to full fitness ahead of Australia’s crucial Asian Cup Qualifier against Oman this week. Set up Blackburn’s second goal with a clever pass as they took a shock 2-1 lead before crashing to defeat. Grella was suspended.

Mark Bresciano (Palermo, Italy)

Reportedly produced a busy performance as the Sicilians beat title contenders Juventus 2-0 at home, Bresciano coming close to scoring himself, brushing the post with a header that would have sealed the game.

Luke Wilkshire (Dinamo Moscow, Russia)

A rare non-involvement as his side crashed to a 2-1 defeat at Zenit St Petersburg.

Scott McDonald (Celtic, Scotland)

Was the star of the European tie against Rapid Vienna in midweek, equalizing after his side fell behind before seeing what would have been the winner cleared off the line in the second half before putting in a disappointing performance in the Old Firm derby at the weekend, though in truth he was devoid of any sort of service from his teammates as Celtic lost 2-1 at Ibrox.

Richard Garcia (Hull City, England)

Missing the start of the new season through with a serious knee problem.

Brad Jones, Rhys Williams (Middlesbrough, England)

Full games for the Australian duo as Borough recorded a 2-0 away win over Reading to keep pace with league leaders Newcastle.

Nick Carle (Crystal Palace, England)

Was given over half-an-hour of the second period to impress Neil Warnock and during his time on the pitch Palace scored twice to record a 4-1 home victory over Blackpool.

Adam Federici (Reading, England)

A busy performance at home against Middlesbrough, he made on or two decent stops but was beaten twice as the Royals were beaten.

Ruben Zadkovich (Derby County, England)

Didn’t make the bench as Nigel Clough’s side scored a 3-0 home win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Patrick Kisnorbo, Neil Kilkenny (Leeds United, England)

A full game for Kisnorbo and 79 minutes for Kilkenny, who almost set up a winner for his side as they were held to a scoreless draw at home by Charlton.

Michael Theoklitos (Norwich City, England)

Wasn’t on the bench for the 5-1 home win over Bristol Rovers.

Oliver Bozanic (Cheltenham Town, England)

Out with a knee injury. Has returned to parent club Reading for treatment.

Carl Valeri (Grossetto, Italy)

Replaced at half-time in the 2-0 defeat at Mantova, though the visitors conceded both goals after the restart.

Brett Holman, James Holland (AZ Alkmaar, Netherlands)

Impressed in UEFA Champions League action in midweek, settting up his side's opener and then almost doubling their lead at home agaisnt Standard Liege, where they were denied a first victory in the group stages by a last-minute strike.

In the weekend's leaguea ction, he was replaced in the 70th minute of the home win over NAC Breda, halting a run of three consecutive league defeats for the reigning champions.

Nikita Rukavytsya, David Carney (FC Twente, Netherlands)

No role for Carney after being seeing red playing for the reserves, whilst Rukavytsya similarly failed to make the bench for 3-1 win away against Heracles. The former was an unused substitute in the scoreless draw at home against Steaua Burucresti in midweek.

Dario Vidosic, Matthew Spiranovic (Nurnberg, Germany)

A rare start for Spiranovic, who along with Vidosic was given a full game as the promoted side were beaten 4-0 away at Leverkusen.

Bruce Djite (Genclerbirligi, Turkey)

Wasn’t involved in the 3-0 defeat away to giants Fenerbahce.

Mile Jedinak (Antalyaspor, Turkey)

Played a full game as his side succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Sivasspor away from home.

James Troisi (Kayserispor, Turkey)

Wasn’t involved in the defeat to Eskisehirspor on the road.

Michael Petkovic (Sivasspor, Turkey)

A big result for the ‘keeper personally and his embattled side, who beat Antalyaspor at home to halt a horrid start to the season, Petkovic playing a full game and keeping a clean sheet.

Scott Chipperfield (FC Basel, Switzerland)

Completed a 5-0 rout by his side against visiting Sion Sitten with a quick fire double in the last few minutes of the match. Played a full game.

Ante Covic (Elfsborg, Sweden)

Played a full game as his side were held to a scoreless draw at home to AIK.

Nathan Burns (Kerkyra, Greece)

No game on the weekend for his side.

Trent McClenahan, James Wesolowski (Hamilton, Scotland)

McClenahan was replaced just after the hour mark of a 2-0 home defeat to St Johnstone, while Wesolowski was given a full game.
