Australia's Mark Viduka Linked With Portsmouth And Middlesbrough
Could the big Aussie still secure an EPL deal?
Australian website The World Game claims that the 33-year-old has been offered a one-year, pay-as-you-play contract by Pompey.
His wage demands are apparently standing at £45,000 though, providing an obstacle to his joining Paul Hart's side.
Initially linked with both Portsmouth and Hull City - also by the Australian press - a move for the former Socceroo captain was recently ruled out by Tigers manager Phil Brown.
Interestingly, the new report also mentions the possibility of Viduka remaining at Newcastle United on significantly reduced wages, though such an outcome would surely be hampered by the failure of owner Mike Ashley to sell the club and the player's absence from pre-season.
Also-relegated Middlesbrough, from whom Viduka joined Newcastle two years ago, have been touted as potential suitors as well.
