Neil Warnock: Nick Carle Part Of My Crystal Palace Plans, FC Seoul Offer Rejected

The Palace gaffer says an offer for the Aussie was knocked back because of his importance to the club.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock says the Championship club knocked back a loan offer from K-League outfit FC Seoul for Australia international Nick Carle, because the midfielder is an integral part of his plans at Selhurst Park.

Last season’s K-League runners-up were reported in the Sydney Morning Herald to have tabled a loan offer of $520,000 for Carle to join on a 12-month deal, with Palace supposedly rejecting the approach because it fell short of their valuation of the player.

However, it has since emerged that the London club are reluctant to let go of the midfielder because he forms a key part of Warnock’s plans ahead of the new season.

“A club have come in for Nick, but we don’t want to let him go – he is part of our plans here,” Warnock told The Croydon Advertiser.

Carle had a relatively successful season with Palace in 2008-09, making a total of 39 starts across all competitions, a significant improvement over the 17 he made in the campaign prior.

Regular game time and more consistent form have caught the attention of Pim Verbeek in recent months, the Dutchman having called up the 27-year-old for Australia’s final World Cup qualifiers in June, where Carle enjoyed game-time against both Bahrain and Japan.
