Marco Bresciano To Swap Palermo For Saudi Arabia's Al-Shabab - Reports
The Socceroo dynamo apparently going to accept a lucrative offer in the Middle East.
Australia international and Palermo midfielder Marco Bresciano could be about to make a big-money move to Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab Riyadh, according to a report in KSA.
The report has been picked up by Italian websites www.calcionews24.com and www.mediagol.it, though no concrete statements have yet emerged from either club.
Perhaps most telling though are comments from Palermo’s sporting director, Walter Sabatani, who admitted that the club could not meet Breciano’s wage demands due to the current market situation.
It was only a two seasons ago that Bresciano appeared set for a move to English Premier League club Manchester City following Australia’s premature exit at the 2007 Asian Cup.
However, that move broke down and Bresciano has since remained a regular in the Palermo first team.
Whether the 29-year-old would risk moving to the rather less reputable Saudi Arabian domestic scene only 12 months out from the World Cup remains to be seen, though.
