Gold Coast United Announce Major Sponsorship Deal
Not that they need the money but Clive Palmer's new A-League franchise have secured a major deal.
Gold Coast United have secured a significant sponsorship, with the announcement that portable refrigeration manufacturer WAECO, part of the worldwide Dometic Group, have signed a two-year deal to display their brand name on the front and back of the team shorts.
WAECO’s logo will appear on both the first-team strip and Youth League strip, with the arrangement including a further two-year option beyond 2011.
After concluding a three-year sponsorship arrangement with United’s rivals Queensland Roar, the CEO of WAECO Pacific Pty Ltd, Andreas Bischof, said his company’s brand was a good fit with the club, particularly as the company has its offices on the Gold Coast.
“We are extremely proud to sponsor Gold Coast United. With our head office on the Gold Coast, it was a natural step to support our local club,” Mr Bischof said.
“Needless to say, the Gold Coast lifestyle offers lucrative prospects for players as well as fans. With world class training and spectator facilities at Skilled Park and some of the Hyundai A-League’s best players, the team has every opportunity to succeed under Coach Miron Bleiberg.
“We have seen the benefits of our agreement with Queensland Roar and watched them grow over the last three years. There is no doubt the sport is growing in Australia, creating room for additional teams in the Hyundai A-League.
“In addition to domestic growth, Australian football is getting a bigger and better footprint in the Asian market and this fits very well with our group’s strategy.”
The CEO of Gold Coast United, Clive Mensink, congratulated WAECO for their continued support of football in Australia.
He said, “We are delighted to have WAECO on board with us. They have a history of commitment to football and are a strong international brand with local roots here on the Gold Coast.
“We are looking forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with WAECO and congratulate them on their vision in recognising the opportunities presented by football, especially in these tough economic times.
“Football’s profile will continue to grow in Australia, particularly with the Socceroos’ qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup just around the corner. Gold Coast United will be part of that growth and WAECO’s confidence in the bright future of the code is to be admired.
“WAECO is a great brand fit for us given the outdoor lifestyle enjoyed by people in our region. Their products will also be of great benefit to the team when it comes to keeping everything cold on training days.”
