TEAM NEWS: Marin makes first Chelsea start against Leeds in Capital One Cup

Rafael Benitez's side are back in domestic action after their defeat by Corinthians in the Club World Cup on Sunday, but the Spaniard has only made a handful of changes

Chelsea’s first domestic match since their disappointing Club World Cup showing sees them take on Leeds United at Elland Road in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals, with Marko Marin making his first start in the midfield.

Blues manager Rafael Benitez has made four changes from the side that lost 1-0 to Corinthians in the final on Sunday, with two of them coming at the back as Gary Cahill and Ashley Cole are replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta and Ryan Bertrand.

Eden Hazard and Ramires are the other two players to make way, while Marin and Oscar come into the side with the Brazilian starting in a deeper position alongside Frank Lampard.

In goal, Jamie Ashdown retains his cup competition place for the home side despite fitness concerns in the build-up, meaning Paddy Kenny takes a place on the bench for the night.

At the back, Alan Tate is unavailable due to being cup-tied, meaning Jason Pearce deputises, with Sam Byram dropping back to the right-back position to help accommodate him.

Further forward, David Norris drops to the bench and is replaced by former Premier League midfielder Michael Brown.

Leeds (4-4-2): Ashdown; Byram, Lees, Pearce, Peltier; Tonge, Green, Thomas, Brown; Becchio, Diouf.

Subs: Kenny, Varney, White, Norris, Gray, Somma, McCormack.

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Cech; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Ivanovic, Bertrand; Lampard, Oscar; Marin, Mata, Moses; Torres.
